More Information
Renowned in Asia as a highly nutritious food,
goji
berries, or
wolfberries
have been used in traditional Chinese medicine for about 1,900 years. Their undocumented legend, however, is considerably older, as wolfberries are often linked in Chinese lore to Shen Nung (Shennong), China's legendary First Emperor, mythical father of agriculture, and herbalist who lived circa 2,800 BC.
Highly nutritious goji berries
have long played important roles in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) where they are believed to
enhance immune system function, improve eyesight, protect the liver, boost sperm production and improve circulation.
Goji berries contain over 15% protein, 21 essential minerals, and 18 amino acids, making them a nutrient-dense super-food!
In TCM terms, wolfberries are sweet in taste and neutral in nature. They act on the liver, lungs, and kidneys and enrich yin. They can be eaten raw, consumed as juice or wine, brewed into an herbal tea or prepared as a tincture. The berries are also used in traditional Korean medicine, traditional Japanese medicine and traditional Tibetan medicine.
Goji berries may be eaten as a snack, in the manner of other dried fried. In China they are traditionally cooked before consumption. They release more nutritional value when cooked. Click on the More Information tab to find out more about cooking goji berries; click on Technical Specs to find more information on nutritional content.
Available in a one pound package.
Note about packaging: Lin Sister's brand is processed according to the time-proven method of the Traditional Chinese Medicine. This method ensures low toxicity from any possible pesticide residue. Berries are dried naturally or electrically without sulfur contamination (which can occur from coal-drying methods often employed in China).
Wash thoroughly before eating raw.
Keep refrigerated (contains no preservatives!)
