Also called Nin Jiom Pei Pa Koa, King To Jiom Pei Pa Koa, or simply Pei Pa Koa.

This soothing syrup is appropriate in cases of lung dryness that is due to wind heat, common colds, or smoking. Its chief ingredients are Fritillaria (bei mu) and loquat leaf (pi pa ye). Loquat leaf is especially useful for a heat-type cough, which is a cough with sticky phlegm that is difficult to expectorate. Loquat leaf comes from the same tree that produces the small delicious loquat fruits (Eriobotrya japonica).

Fritillaria, the other chief ingredient, is an expectorant that is moistening to the lungs, an important action when a cough is nonproductive.



Function:
Moisten lung, Clear lung heat, stop cough,and calm asthma. Use to Nourish Lung Yin in cases where is a dry cough, but no phlegm or only a little phlegm. Syrups are useful for a variety of cough , including bronchitis, smoker's cough, emphysema, pertussis, and asthma. Use to treat acute or chronic cough caused by lung heat; difficult expectoration of sputum and throat pain may be present.

Indications:
Cough due to lung heat or dryness, with phlegm that is difficult to expectorate; a dry cough with no or little phlegm. Also:
Asthma; Bronchitis; Difficult to expectorate phlegm; Irritation of the throat; Smoker's cough; Sore throat; Thick phlegm; Blood-tinged phlegm; Cough with scanty phlegm or dry cough; Dry mouth; Dry throat; Pulmonary tuberculosis; Slight fever; Red tongue, yellow or greyish coating; Slippery-Rapid pulse (Hua Shu)

Bulbus Fritillariae (Bei Mu)
Radix Glehniae Littoralis (Sha Shen)
Fructus Schisandrae Chinensis (Wu Wei Zi)
Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae (Chen Pi)
Radix Platycodi Grandiflori (Jie Geng)
Rhizoma Pinelliae Ternatae (Ban Xia)
Herba Menthae (Bo He)
Flos Tussilagi Farfarae (Kuan Dong Hua)
Semen Pruni Armeniacae (Xing Ren)
Honey (Feng Mi)

Dosage:

Adults: 10 cc (1 tablespoon), 3 times a day. Can be diluted in water or tea, etc.
Children: 1/2 dose, 3 times a day.
